People often ask me questions like, “Are your books appropriate for my classroom?” or “Can you recommend some writing books for me?”
Here I’ve compiled a few sources.
“Classroom Use” discusses the Jamestown Sky books as teaching material, what each book includes, discussion questions, etc.
My teenage daughter wrote the page on acorn flour after she and her sister tried grinding acorns for flour the same way that Joan, Tempie, and Maggie did. This has been one of the most popular pages on my website. Included is a recipe for how to make acorn flour and corn meal bread.
“For Writers” is a list of my favorite books about creative writing.
Finally, “Links” is a list of internet resources if you’d like to learn more about Joan’s home, life on ship, life at Jamestown, the Virginia Indian tribes and their websites, the first Africans in Virginia, and how to visit Virginia’s 17th century plantations today.
